Family support and connections

We are deeply committed to engagement with local community. Collaborating with community organizations, participating in community events, and forging connections with other professionals enhances our children and families overall experience at our centres. This active participation serves to provide an important learning opportunity for all on the value of human connectedness, joint interests, and a strong positive community.  We plan, invest in, and organize social events throughout the year for children, their families and our staff.  We facilitate various trail hikes and park clean ups, as well as parent education evenings.

At Berry Family Child Care Society, we believe collaborating with parents to foster understanding and better support their child is essential for a child’s development.  We share our knowledge of the child and our professional opinions in a respectful, compassionate, and honest manner.  We sponsor or subsidize parent education evenings that address topics of interest or areas that we feel our broader group of families could benefit from.

Parent Education Workshops

We organize parent education workshops or information sessions on topics related to child development, parenting strategies, nutrition, and mental health. We offer workshops facilitated by educators or invite guest speakers with expertise in early childhood development.

 Family Engagement Events

We plan family engagement events throughout the year, such as picnics, cultural celebrations, or parent-child workshops. These events foster a sense of community, provide opportunities for parents to connect with each other, and strengthen their involvement in their child’s learning experiences.

Home-School Connection Activities

We share simple and practical ideas for extending learning experiences from our centre into the home environment. We provide parents with suggestions for activities, books, games, or everyday routines that reinforce the skills and concepts being explored at our centres.

Resource List/Library

We maintain a resource list along with a lending program with books, and other materials related to child development, parenting, and early learning. We make these resources accessible to parents, allowing them to borrow and explore topics of interest at their convenience.

Parent Volunteer Opportunities

We encourage parents to volunteer at the centre. This involvement enables them to gain first-hand experience of the learning environment and build stronger connections with educators and other children. We provide a variety of volunteer opportunities that accommodate different schedules and interests.
